Spotted: What’s Smaller Than A Smart?
Saw these two behind where I work the other day. Almost drove past the Smart, then saw the second car and figured this warranted some pictures.
The only badging on the second car I could find said “London Roadster.” I assume it’s a kit car. It looks like a 2/3 scale MG TD or TC, but I’d bet it’s based on a shortened Volkswagen chassis with the classic air-cooled flat-4 cylinder. Weird little thing.
check out this interior! How do people even fit in there? Plus it’s got an “oh-sh*t” handle on the dashboard for good effect!

Kit cars are cute; I guess it’s just not my bag. There is something to being able to say you literally built the car you’re driving, but deep down you know it’s just not very good. I suppose the exception to that is the Ultima GTR. Still, I certainly admire the effort required to make them.
Till next time!

James,
I’ve seen MG TC/TDs in person, and I’d say they’re about the same size — not scaled down. When I was in The Fury last Saturday, I pulled up next to a convertible Mini. I’m sure the visual effect to others on Six Forks was just as surreal as what you found.

I’m not sure the pictures do justice to just how tiny this car is, Paul… it’s really in “clown car” dimensions. You just had to see it.

That’s not shortened or anything, that is the size of those. I almost bought one several years ago, very tiny car!
